It's beginning to look a lot like ...

Take a moment from online holiday shopping and have a few laughs ....

The Guy Fieri Road Show is headed to Denver, CO on December 9, 2009, where the current temperature (as I write) is 1 degree. One degree. Not two; just only one. Haha. I was glad to hear the Road Show was stopping there; Diners, Drive-ins and Dives has never visited Denver. And after that, the Road Show entourage has less than 2 days to drive 20 hours to Seattle, WA.

Getting over the mountains from Denver to Seattle is a tricky business in December, and I hope I can speak on behalf of everyone that the tour buses and semi truck make careful work of it.

I've had several requests from fans for more information on the Kulinary Gangsta Krew or Road Show crew, and I'm sorry to report there isn't much information out there. Two of Guy's friends who pre-date his Food TV career are Kleetus and Dirty P.

Kleetus Cox (also misspelled Cletus) is at Guy's side more often than not. If you haven't already, do check out his blog at kleetus-guyfieri.blogspot.com.

Dirty P. Thompson (sometimes mis-reported as Dirty Pete) is also a regular at Guy's side.

For more, click here for a blog search on Kleetus, and click here for a blog search on Dirty.

Two relatively new friends are restaurant owners from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives: Stretch Rumaner, who is the one responsible for building the 6-foot margarita machine, from Kansas City, Missouri and Panini Pete from Fairhope, Alabama.

Stretch just had a brief interview with The Pitch, a Kansas City food blog, where he said, "The crew meets before each show to break down how the previous set went and what they might try on the next crowd." Read the full article here. And you can follow Stretch at twitter.com/STRETCHartist.

Panini Pete sent out a tweet that he's continuing with the Road Show in "Milwaukee, Rosemont, Denver, & Idaho." Follow Pete at twitter.com/paninipete.

Woody, the flair bartender who's traveling with the Road Show, has recently uploaded some more YouTube videos of the shows. You can find his channel at www.youtube.com/user/liquidkitchenman.

And DJ Cobra, the man behind the 7-foot, orange fur-covered booth has a MySpace page at www.myspace.com/djcobra.

More as I hear of it!

Twitter? Blog? More from Guy's website

There is a Guy Fieri on Twitter with 287 followers, and no updates by the Guy Fieri. Is it him? A faker? or?
Sources say that Guy will Twitter - it's just a matter of time. Last week his web designer re-worked the new Twitter page. So at this point, it's a wait and see.

And it looks like Kleetus may begin blogging for Guy. According to a Food Network interview with Guy, "He has a big truck and likes to drive us around." Kleetus, a.k.a. Kevin Cox, has been seen on several episodes of Guy's shows, including Guy's Big Bite and Guy Off the Hook. Kleetus has also sous chef'd for Guy at several cooking demo's, including South Beach (pictured), Des Moines (video) and Disneyland.

GuyFieri.com is slowly but surely being re-vamped in its design and functions. The email signup is working now.

And the website has included a map with 60 of Guy's favorite diners, drive-ins and dives from Google.

-------------------------------------

Update:
Dear Anonymous Guy's Publicist in the comments section,

Is he hidden? And how is one to know who's real and who's fake? There are several Guy Fieri's on MySpace and Facebook too.

p.s. if you want to hire me, I'll charge reasonable rates! haha

Pictures from UNLV and trip to Atlanta

Well I see I'm a day too late to show the pictures from Guy Fieri's appearance at UNLV's award ceremony. (Food Network Humor beat me to it) But for what it's worth, here is Robin Leach, George Maloof and Guy Fieri at UNLVino. (source)

Martie Knows Parties posted in her blog that she caught up with Guy and his Posse at the Metropolitan Cooking show in Atlanta.

Fieri and his posse: Michael and Scott from Ergo Chef, Kleetus, Brunch and Guy

Speaking of Kleetus, he posted a blog! Pretty yawnsville stuff, but I'm giving him a chance to get into the blogging scene. Took me a while - I'm still figuring it all out. Kleetus, a big welcome!

The Atlanta News Services reports that Guy and friends dined at the Marietta Fish Market.
"He happily posed for photos with dozens of diners, signed T-shirts and hats for some and even wished a few kids a happy birthday. He also talked his way into the kitchen for a quick tour.

Fieri and his six friends enjoyed a 3-pound steamed lobster, Alaskan king crab legs, shrimp and scallops in a light red sauce, green olives and feta cheese plus the Marietta Fish Market’s Maryland lump crab cakes, oysters Rockefeller, seafood bisque and the seafood paella. Fieri’s fave, however? The eatery’s signature grilled whole red snapper drizzled with extra-virgin olive oil and fresh lemon juice and served on Greek-style roasted potatoes and sauteed spinach."
Gus Tselios and Guy Fieri

Gus Tselios also owns the Marrietta Diner, featured in season 3 of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. So, there you go.

Guy Fieri Launches Website Re-design

It's up and running. The long-awaited GuyFieri.com website re-design has launched. Check it out!

The Inside Dish - ok, the "fraud blogs" kind of hurt, but I can take it.

Shop 4 Stuff - same as before.

News U Can Use - pretty much what I was doing here, but way better, including a list of upcoming Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives taping dates, times and locations. Pretty cool.

Events - has a link to Kleetus' blog, Kleetus, (empty at the time I am posting this) and a link to Guy's Twitter page (which he's still figuring out how to use).

The Krew Email Sign Up - same as before, but with a new look.

Guest Book - same as before, and last updated March 10. Let's hope this gets a re-design too.

Armed Forces Entertainment - is in Latin? Hello?

So there it is! Poke around GuyFieri.com for yourself and see what you think.

Fans give back and connect with Guy Fieri

It's been said that Guy Fieri is perhaps the most accessible of all Food Network stars, hosts and chefs; I don't know enough about the other Food Network personalities to say. But I do know that fans are eager to meet him, and they frequently offer a token gift of appreciation and thanks for his shows, lifestyle and/or charitable works.

Carlos Lovato, of Sinners-Inc, presented Guy Fieri with a 12:1 piston ring at a book signing in June, 2009, during the Great American Food & Music Fest. Guy was so taken with the ring, that he's been seen wearing it at almost every public appearance, and on the majority of the shows he's taped and produced since that time.

In preparation for the Guy Fieri Road Show, and in appreciation for the invaluable national exposure of their jewelry, Sinners-Inc made exclusive custom piston rings with the Kulinary Gangsta logo for Guy Fieri and his "Kulinary Krew," right-hand man Kleetus and left-hand man Dirty.

Four rings were produced; one of those four is as yet unspoken for. Carlos is considering donating the fourth ring (an auction, perhaps?) towards the Friends Raising Funds organization, to support their efforts.

A fifth ring has been ordered for Rich Bacchi, a.k.a. Gorilla, from Gorilla BBQ (BBQ & More DV0510) in Pacifica, CA, who traveled with Guy Fieri on the Road Show. [I wonder what size ring a gorilla wears? :) ~D]

Carlos and his business partner Victor Martino hung out with the Krew and Guy's family in San Jose at the Road Show, December 2009. Carlos said, "it was quite the experience, and Guy is an incredible host."

Guy Fieri has long been a fan of baseball (even though we hear more about football and the Oakland Raiders). In Louisville, KY, Guy Fieri was presented with a Louisville Slugger.

Louisville Slugger's very own Danny Luckett and his wife Pattee, giving Guy Fieri a personalized bat when he was in town, December 2009.

Click here to read the MLB's All-Star Game's official program with comments from Guy Fieri.

At a recent Cowboy Mouth concert in San Francisco, CA, welcomingspirit.blogspot.com accidentally stumbled into Guy Fieri and his krew on a night out on the town. She writes, "Guy Fieri got up on stage and played the drums with Fred [LeBlanc]. Guy also danced with the crowd, surrounded by guys in black jackets with "Kulinary Gangsta" written on the back. Awesome. Seriously."

See more pictures from the show.

And as reported before, Foodies Like Us gave back by organizing a Triple D event in Mesa, AZ. Here is a short video with pictures and comments from those who were there.

Guy Fieri's Chelsea After Dark

These pictures just in from the New York Wine & Food Festival. Guy Fieri is kicking off the weekend-long event with a party, 10/9/09, called Chelsea Market After Dark.

Chelsea Market is an indoor mall, with many food-related shops and restaurants. The Food Network's studio, where Guy tapes Guy's Big Bite and Ultimate Recipe Showdown, is located in the floors above the market.

ZagatBuzz: "Guy fieri mobbed by ladies and look alike dudes."

Pringles100ways: "Winners meeting Guy right now!!! Rockin the Guy Fieri room." Charlsie S. from Texas and Gale T. from Oregon won the Pringles 100 Ways sweepstakes and met Guy Fieri at this event.

Guy Fieri finishes up a busy week in WNY

Elena Cala Buscarino of Buffalo Rising scored a nice interview with Guy Fieri while taping Diners, Drive-ins and Dives in Buffalo, New York. She writes, "I met up with him at Sophia's on Military Road this morning, and I have to say that any national celebrity who can be funny and gracious at 7:45AM is alright with me." Read the full article here.

Guy Fieri in Bernice, the author's '75 LeSabre

Guy listed the places in Buffalo that he's visited already: Lake Effect Diner, Grover's Bar & Grill, Earl's Drive-in, the Blackthorn, and "a Bill's tailgate party hosted on a Pinto at Ralph Wilson Stadium," which POTENTIALLY leaves the Pizza Junction yet to be shot in the afternoon of the 19th or the morning of the 20th.

Moreover, Guy said the "Tailgating Warriors" show, produced by Guy's Production Company, Ragtop Productions, a joint venture between Page Productions and Guy Fieri, is scheduled to air on September 17, 2009. Of course, Kleetus says it will air October 17, 2009. So just stay tuned, and I'll see if I can't sort it all out.

And to comment on the food in Buffalo? "Beef on weck? Oh my God," Guy said, "this could have been the beef on weck tour."

Ok, for those of you NOT from Buffalo, a typical beef on weck sandwich (a.k.a. kummelweck or kimmelweck) is made from slow-roasted, hand carved, rare roast beef. The cut face of the top half of the roll may be dipped in the juices from the roast. Prepared horseradish is usually provided for the diner to spread on the top half of the roll to taste. In the Buffalo area, it is common to see jars of horseradish on eatery tables that serve the sandwich.

As usual, it will take anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months for these restaurants to air on the Food Network.

At the Lake Effect Diner, the parking lot was roped off, and Guy could be seen inside entertaining kids with magic tricks, joking around with the diners, and posing for pictures with fans.

Tucker Curtin, owner of the diner, is an active participant in the local farm movement, working with local farmers and members of his staff to bring fresh, locally grown food to the table. Read more here.

New merchandise added to Guy Fieri's website

The folks at GuyFieri.com just added a new set of Kulinary designs, and soon they will offer Guy Fieri signature Gatorz sunglasses and Doxa watches. To buy Guy Fieri's signature line of Gatorz sunglasses, click here.

Keep an eye on Guy's store at http://www.shopguyfieri.com/index.htm

And recently, Guy Fieri sent a newsletter out to his fans - a first, as far as I know. You can join the mailing list by clicking here.

In it, Guy says, "The Guy Fieri Knuckle Sandwich Knife is kickin' it!" And, continues with some background on how and why he chose to work with Ergo Chef, and that the knives "blend the best materials with a rockin' design."

Under the heading "We're drivin' NASCAR!," Guy wrote, "We are cooking up something hot for the upcoming races ... we are designing new graphics for the car that should jump outta the TV screen!"

Guy announced his participation in the upcoming Metropolitan Cooking Show: "MCES gave me a discount code for my fans so that you can save 15% off tickets to my show in the Celebrity Theater. All you have to do is visit www.metrocooking.com to purchase your tickets and then type in the promo code BIGBITE.

But make sure you click the gray 'verify promotion code' box to apply the discount. You better hurry up and get your tickets today though, cause this promo only lasts until midnight on October 9th."

In addition to the new merchandise available on GuyFieri.com, Guy wrote that they offer "my signature Gatorz sunglasses, Doxa watches, and ... soon you can pre-order my new book before the rest of the WORLD!!!" I haven't found links to Gatorz sunglasses nor Doxa watches, so my only suggestion is to keep checking back.

*update*
The Guy Fieri Signature Gatorz sunglasses can be found on Gatorz.com.

On a related note, several fans of Guy Fieri have written in asking where to find the photographs taken of them and Guy at the book signing in Verona, New York's Turning Stone Casino. Click here to find the photographs taken of you and Guy Fieri at the event.

The newsletter ended with a shoutout to Kleetus' blog and a link to the upcoming Knuckle Sandwich - Guy Fieri Roadshow.

Guy Fieri - on tailgating

The Food Network is getting behind the hot tailgating trend with a gazillion tips, tricks, videos and recipes, all geared towards tailgating cuisine.

Tailgate Cuisine? You ask?

Yes, cuisine. Tailgating isn't just about grilling a couple burgers and brats before walkin' into the game anymore. It's become a culinary art and a competitive sport, with many people devoting their time, talents and sometimes giving up their jobs just to go on the College and Professional Football tailgating circuit.

And yes. There's a tailgating circuit.

Read The Tailgate Knight. Great blog.

No ignorance on the part of the Food Network, they're hot on this outdoor cooking food trend. And Guy Fieri is leading the team.

The Food Network has put together a complete Tailgating Package on their website. Caution, the video autoplays! But there are Guy and his buddies, Dirty P. and Kleetus, at the side of the Knuckle Sandwich RV (trailer, camper, motor home, 5th wheel, whatever), giving advice on and recipes for tailgating in all its glory.

These videos are being aired on Sundays for the nfl - all viewable on nfl.com. Click here for the video on the ultimate dutch oven tailgate sandwich.

Moreover, October 17, 2009 is devoted to Tailgating on Food Network programming. All times listed below are Eastern. Check the Food Network's program schedule for more information.

Tailgate Party Weekend Cooking Block
Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The day's line-up of shows have premiere episodes geared towards tailgating and football-oriented parties from "30 Minute Meals," "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef," "Down Home with the Neelys," "Paula's Best Dishes" and "Cooking for Real." There are more. You get the idea.

Season 7 of Guy's Big Bite gets a kick off with "Guy's Big Game," airing at 9 a.m. eastern. "It's total Tailgate Time on Big Bite for the Big Game. Tender turkey patties on rye with gruyere and mushrooms, along with a cheddar-topped potato salad, will satisfy hungry fans and linebackers alike. To toast your team's win, a grape mojito inspired by Guy's hometown."

Then Marc Summers' "Unwrapped" program re-airs two tailgating episodes: "Football Parties" at 8 p.m. and "Fan Fare" at 8:30 p.m.

All this leading up to ...

... drum roll, please ...

Tailgate Warriors With Guy Fieri - website
Oct 17, 2009 - 9:00 PM ET/PT
Oct 18, 2009 - 12:00 AM ET/PT
Oct 21, 2009 - 8:00 PM ET/PT

The battle on the gridiron may be rough when the Chicago Bears take on the Buffalo Bills, but it's nothing compared to the action going on outside the stadium. Guy Fieri has thrown down the gauntlet, and tailgate teams from around the country are dukin' it out to see who has the most killer grub in the game! Bringing their rigs, grills, costumes, attitudes and amazing eats, these teams mean business and are fighting for tailgating supremacy as Food Network's Tailgate Warriors.

Followed by more "Unwrapped" with "Tailgating Goodies" at 10 p.m. and "The Secret Life of Tailgating" at 10:30.

Whew!

Last few comments about the Derby night

Kentucky Derby attendee and Star watcher Kim Meek caught Guy Fieri, his wife Lori and Kevin "Kleetus" Cox at Churchill Downs.

The Courier Journal reported that Guy Fieri called up Amici Café at 7:30 p.m. on Derby night and asked if he could use the kitchen at around 9 p.m. to cook for 30 to 35 people in his party.

Owner Sharon Risinger said he showed up, "walked in the restaurant and came into the kitchen. I was getting ready to run food out and about dropped the plates."

That party also included Joey Fatone (video here), who was whipping up drinks and assisting on the grill and others. The group feasted on veal and chicken, pan seared scallops, tiger shrimp and more and kept the party going until 3:30 a.m.

"It was wild," Risinger said.

Guy Fieri: supporting troops here and overseas

Here's a Veteren's Day post, a day early. But it's never too early to thank those who fight for our freedoms.

Guy Fieri will be donating copies of his new book More Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and copies of DVD's from Triple D to soldiers serving overseas.

Recently, when in Hawaii filming for Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Guy Fieri, his son Hunter and his crew worked with Navy cooks and prepared a meal at Pearl Harbor for the military stationed there and their families.

Guy Fieri at the Shoreline Amphitheater

Guy Fieri was in three public events at the Great American Food & Music Fest. He did a cooking demonstration of Hong Kong Noodles (recipe)from 3:00 - 3:45, a brief book signing from 4:00 - 4:45 and had a feature presentation on the main amphitheater stage from 7:45 - 8:30, making gallons of margaritas and his Pork En Fuego (the Tonight Show). Sometime between 5:00 and 7:30, Guy joined Bobby Flay and several of the music acts for a private meet & greet with VIP ticket holders.

Guy Fieri center, surrounded by his crew. The woman is Susie Fogelson, right back is Dirty P and right front is Kleetus.

At the mid-afternoon demo on the Serious Eats stage - a stage set up in front of a grassy area, The Examiner
wrote,
"He was having the time of his life cooking, joking and all-around kvetching with the appreciative crowd. One woman in the back of the crowd was handed a microphone and asked Guy if he remembered her? 'Well, ma'am,' he quipped, 'I can't see that far, but your voice sounds HOT!'. A fun, lighthearted moment for the hungry, stressed throng, one that enabled me to leave the event with a smile."

The book signing was fast and furious. Rdshft said,
"... the most dissapointing thing that happened was with my 3 year old daughter who is a big Guy Fieri fan. She had gotten a wrist band that she wears like guy on her right arm and all week had talked about going to see Guy. We waited in over an hour long line for his book signing, having already bought 2 of his books. We finally get to the front Guy barely looks up at her just signs her name. My wife asked him if we could take a picture with her. Guy response was "OK but i have to keep signing" which is understandable. We go to walk around for the picture since Guy said it was Ok, but one of his people standing on the side says sorry no pictures and doesnt let my daughter get her picture. So now I have an upset 3 year old who doesnt understand why she cant get a picture with her favorite Food Tv star even though he said it was ok. That was it for us we left."
Then came the big demonstration - what Guy described as a preview of what's to come in his upcoming "Knuckle Sandwich Tour," which Bay Area Bites described as,
"A Rockstar Performance ... Must give props to Guy, he rocked the crowd with a highly entertaining blowout performance complete with loud rock n'roll, gratuitous hot chicks on stage, big machinery, power tools, and pyrotechnics."

And Pages, Pucks & Pantry said, "He was like a rock star, the crowd was going wild, he was blaring Mas Tequila while he had the slushomatic going. He was putting on a great show and I think the crowd needed his enthusiasm at that point. Not sure about his cooking as we were a bit too tired and hungry to stay to watch."

More video

Other comments:

One VIP ticket holder wrote to me saying, "I was disappointed when Guy had everyone in the 'cheap seats' move down towards the front [during the evening demonstration ~D]. I'd paid a lot of money to be in the front rows and felt even more ripped off than I had before. The shows were great, but all the other hassles combined made it for a bad experience."

There were reports that Lori, Guy's wife, joined him at the Food & Music Fest in Mt. View, although I've found no pictures.
