Guy Fieri made a quick trip to Los Angeles for an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday, 5/11.
Earlier in the day, Guy stopped by the Mark and Brian show at the KLOS 95.5 FM studios in Los Angeles, CA. He brought in burgers from Hodad’s in Ocean Beach and tested out some new games from his NBC show Minute To Win It.
From Twitter, RJ_Williams - Fun day hanging with @chefguyfieri this guy is blowing up and is going to be a major brand- you watch--he truly deserves all the success...
RJ also tweeted to watch for an article about Guy Fieri in www.younghollywood.com next week.
Guy Fieri cooked and cooked and cooked during his segment on The Tonight Show with some grilling tips. "Backstage with Bryan" caught this pic during rehearsal and posted the recipe for Brick In The Wall bird With Salsa Verde (from Guy's Big Bite - Under the Tuscan Brick) on NBC.com.
Guy Fieri will appear (again) on Jay Leno's Tonight Show on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. The show airs at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT and at 10:35 p.m. central and mountain.
Amanda Seyfried is the first guest, who plays the role of Sophie in both "Letters to Juliet" (2010) and in "Mamma Mia!" (2008). She was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Performance Female in "Mamma Mia!" and won an MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Team in "Mean Girls" (2004).
Guy is the second guest on the Tonight Show to promote Wednesday's charity episode of Minute to Win It with Kevin Jonas. Guy's NBC competition show has been averaging 5.5 million viewers. I'll put my money down K2 will increase viewership to 9.5 million. Any takers?
This will be Guy's fourth television appearance with Jay. First time was in March 2009, when Guy cooked Pork En Fuego on The Tonight Show. Guy appeared on The (now defunct) Jay Leno Show in November 2009, for the Ten @Ten. Then in January 2010, Guy deep fried foods for Kim Kardashian, again on The Jay Leno Show. The most recent time was in March 2010, just before the premiere of Minute to Win It, when Jay and Kristen Stewart played the M2WI game, "Hanky Panky" on The Tonight Show.
The music act, Luke Bryan, a country singer / sonwriter who won two awards at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards, will make his debut appearance on "The Tonight Show" Tuesday and will perform his smash single, "Rain Is A Good Thing" from the CD "Doin' My Thing".
Oooo! When Guy's in chef's coat, you know he's cookin'!
Speaking of Minute to Win It, followers of @ChefGuyFieri on Twitter were treated to a Live Twitter session, a blow-by-blow commentary of the show last night. Guy, great job! I'm wondering if a M2WI Twibe is in order? or perhaps a live chat session on GuyFieri.com in the future? The tweets were several hours too late for anyone east of the Pacific time zone, and a competition spoiler for anyone west of it.
Oh yeah, and someone's gotta introduce that man to Justin.TV, too. :)
As we all know, Guy Fieri is a Pal of Pork, and with this menu he's packin' the flavors that are on point! In the arsenal are Cherry Bomb Chops that attack the taste buds with some sweet, spicy, salty, and sour shrapnel of deliciousness, Hoppy Hush Puppies that hop on your taste buds, and a Roasted Mary with Hot Pickled Green Beans to wash it all down.

And I think it won an award for being the best book with an absurdly long name! Haha. Not a book for hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobials, but definitely recommended for those who love Americana, food and travel.
From Twitter yesterday, @chefguyfieri - Ever wondered how Guy Fieri became Minute To Win It host? Of course, I know there are quite a few who do. Here is a vid for you.
@bobhellman - Dude, ease up on the double promotion with ur Twitter handle.. We KNOW it's from U....
Actually, I don't think it was from Guy, at least not directly. Guy Fieri has hired Zenergy Works SEO (website), and I think several recent tweets are coming from them.
From Zenergy's press release, April 15, 2010 - "Zenergy Works will be promoting and shaping the information that Guy puts online to more effectively reach his online audience."
Haha, I had to laugh. Isn't that what we've been doing? :)
But back to the point - Guy Fieri recently told becksmithhollywood.com about how he got into the Game Show Host game.
"I've got a good sense of humor and could see being involved in a sitcom or a movie." He confesses that NBC didn't approach him about broadening his professional horizons by hosting a game show.
"My agent," he says, "asked what were other things I might like to do that I wasn't doing and I thought, ‘Well, I'm a game show fan. I love the way the hosts can interact with contestants.’ And I said, 'I'd love to host a prime time game show.' I didn't think anyone would take me seriously. But not only did they, they designed a show I feel I was born to do. It's perfect for me."
I'm not sure if I see Guy in a sitcom, but I sure can see him doing a voice for a Pixar film, eh? Haha!
From a satellite interview in March 2010, Starrymag.com and others asked similar questions: How did Guy Fieri go from food to game shows? (edited to salient points)
Q. Very cool. So how did you - how did the (producers of the show) find you?
Guy Fieri: ... You know what? It was actually a collaboration between our Executive Producer, you know, Craig Plestis, and Jason Hodes from William Morris Endeavor.
Two had met two years ago in I believe it was France. There was a conference that was going on there. And they just started to have this, you know, discussion about, you know, I’ve got this new guy that’s on the Food Network. His name is Guy Fieri....
And that was it. I remember Jason telling me he had met this guy. And I bet you someday we’ll have some, you know, some program. Well as everybody knows in this business there’s a lot of ideas and designs and hopes and wishes and dreams.
And the fact that this has really come to, you know, fruition that it’s just, you know, what do you say? I’m amazed. And I appreciate the opportunity because I am a chef. And a restaurant owner, a dad. And I do have other shows. You know, I’ve got other things going on.
And to be chosen to do this, you couldn’t - I’ll just tell it to you this way. You couldn’t have designed a game ever that was going to be more fitting to me and my style than this.
On a programming note, we have two All New episodes of Minute to Win It this week:
Sunday, May 9, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT Ten competitors participate in challenges simultaneously and the last one standing will go on to compete for the big prize!
Wednesday, May 12, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT Kevin Jonas stops by Minute To Win It to compete in some nerve-wracking games for his charity Change For The Children Foundation.
Kevin Jonas fans? Check out this blog entry for several larger than life pix of K2 on M2WI. Enjoy.
*update* Minute to Win It is casting SATURDAY, MAY 8TH Dodger Stadium 1000 Elysian Park Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90012 Parking Lot B 5 - 7pm
Last year, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared the second Saturday in May "Cook With Your Kids Day" and issued a proclamation urging parents to spend time cooking with their children. Moreover, Guy Fieri was presented with a resolution recognizing him as an advocate for families cooking together.
Many of us have busy schedules, balancing careers, family concerns and other duties, but it is more crucial than ever that we take time to be with our children and build strong relationships. Parents and guardians are their best teachers, and by taking time to show our kids how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, we make an invaluable investment in their future.
In 2009, Fieri hosted a sushi class for 40 children at his Sacramento Tex Wasabi's restaurant. Half of the participants were from the UC Davis Children's Hospital.
Guy Fieri has said parents need to teach children critical lessons, such as how to cook and how to eat in moderation. "We need to educate our kids about food," he said. "One of the things I do with my son is he has to make the lunch," Fieri said, adding that his son gets to buy the school lunch once a week.
(And, apparently, hold him upside down. Haha!)
At Guy's recent visit to Disney's California Adventure, he talked to reporters about his CA Resolution "Cook with your Kids Day" and why he believes involving kids in cooking is good for them.
But let us NOT let California have all the fun. How do you get your kids to do it? Don't make 'em just peel potatoes. And let them pick what's for dinner:
Ergo Chef, in conjunction with Guy Fieri, released the "Knuckle Sandwich" line of chef's knives in August, 2009. Since that time, the knives have been reviewed dozens of times, always (and I mean always) with positive comments. Honestly, I've read every review posted online (yes, I have no life, tyvm).
The Food in my Beard wrote, perhaps, the most grudgingly positive review to date, saying,
"Well, I wanted to bash them, I really did, but other than the look (and the name), these knives are great. Let me reiterate, I really HATE the way they look. But yea, other than that, they work perfectly. ...GET THIS: my mom actually LIKES the way they look! She says: 'All knives look the same and are so boring, these have some style.'"
The red & black handles, with star and Patriots / Texans swirl designs and the blades with "Guy Fieri Knuckle Sandwich" logo and series of flames, are subjectively decorative. Have I seen any other professional-quality knives with anything other than black handles and imageless blades? No. Have you?
EatnListen.com wrote the most recent review, singing the praises of the 5 1/2-inch "Dragon Dagger" utility knife and 8-inch "Big Stick" chef's knife to easily and effectively trim a perfect heart of beef tenderloin.
To date, the knives have been sold through various online outlets and kitchen supply websites. Guy Fieri and Ergo Chef want to know in which retail stores should they market their knives?
We just got off the phone with Guy and he asked us to let you know he’s looking for your feedback on the stores where you’d like to see the Knuckle Sandwich knives. (We have two available now, and another two that you can pre-order now. Stay tuned for the official announcement on the release of the final pieces to the Knuckle Sandwich Series later this year.)
Until now we’ve been selling the knives directly through our site, but now it’s time to get them into the stores near you. If you have 20 seconds, please just head over to his site for the one-question survey. Seriously, 20 seconds.
So yes readers, by all means go answer the one-questions survey. However according to my own personal statistics adviser, an online survey will miss a huge mass of the population - namely, those people who might be interested in purchasing the knives who do NOT use the internet.
And after all, isn't that the point of placing the knives in stores? To reach a market of people who do not shop online. So! Here are my suggestions:
1. The knives are VERY WELL priced - the "Big Stick" sells for $76 at ErgoChef. Consumers will truly get the best bang for their buck with these knives. On the other hand, they aren't cheap either.
Target prices Giada's chef knife at $18 to J.A. Henckels 2-knife set for $66. I think Guy's knives would just sit there. Macy's, on the other hand, sells the mid- to higher-end quality knives, with Tyler Florence's priced at $40 to Zwilling J.A. Henckels at $163. Nice fit for Ergo, I should think. So if I were in charge of marketing, I'd stay away from the Targets, Shopkos and WalMarts and instead hit the mid- to higher-end department stores ubiquitously end-capping America's malls.
2. There's no denying (in spite of Food in my Beard's mother), that the Knuckle Sandwich knife designs will appeal to men. Where do men shop?
Cabela's! The pricing fits, and it's a men's shopping mecca. Moreover, the edge guard that comes with every Knuckle Sandwich knife is perfect for traveling, camping, etc., perfect for the consumer who cooks on-the-go. So if I were in charge of marketing, I'd hit outfitter and sporting supply stores.
Where else do men shop? Home Depot. They currently do not sell any cutlery (that I'm aware of), so placing these knives at the Home Depot would be opening a whole new category. Coup! (That's a little play on words. Couper Diem!) Lowe's, on the other hand, already sells knife sets priced from $32 to $119. It would be a nice fit also.
Of course, the Food Network already enjoys a healthy relationship with Kohl's and Sur La Table - both good choices for the Guy Fieri Knuckle Sandwich Ergo knives.
Ok, that's enough advice from me. For fun, here's a darling video from Kristina Vanni of BetterRecipes.com, featuring Guy's knives and a recipe for a Guy Fieri "Minute to Win It" juice smoothie (recipe).

General seating tickets will be complimentary to all Audi Best Buddies Challenge registered participants. VIP seating tickets will be available to "Tom Brady Team TB12" participants as well as other VIP guests. Find more ticket information here.
According to www.boston.com, Tom Brady will join Guy Fieri for a "sous chef challenge," pitting some of Boston's premiere chefs and Best Buddies participants in a cook-off.
Brady is rumored to be among the judges, and there's a chance his wife, Gisele Bundchen, will join him.
The next day's 100-mile ride starts at the JFK Library and ends in Hyannis Port, MA.
This was Guy Fieri's second trip to Louisville, KY for the Kentucky Derby. With wife Lori and crew including Kleetus and Dirty, Guy hit a few parties on Oaks Day. Referring to the Derby, he said, "of all the big events, this my favorite."
