Guy Fieri sent out this tweet in early May, My grandma loved this mag!, she’s not with us but it feels good I made the cover. Check it. The June 2010, Father's Day edition of Guideposts is out now with Guy Fieri on the cover, and it's available online. Here are a few quotes from the article:
"My biggest inspiration, the best role model this Guy could ever hope for…it’s my dad, hands down."
"If it weren’t for my dad I would never have become an entrepreneur or had the guts to start my own restaurants."
Guy relates the story of how his Amazing Pretzel business came to be, with the help of his father, James Ferry.
"We got a three-wheeler from Goodwill. After school, I met Dad at his buddy’s wood shop and we built a pretzel cart. I painted it yellow.
'What do you want to call it?' Dad asked. 'The Awesome Pretzel Cart,' I decided. That summer at the town fair I set up my cart and sold hot pretzels. I made a thousand bucks. A sixth grader with his own business. It was awesome!"
"Everything I’ve ever done, he’s been there encouraging me, working with me to figure things out and, yes, sometimes kicking me in the rear.
Now I’m a father myself, with two boys, Hunter, 13, and Ryder, four. My parents live next door, and the boys spend a lot of time with their grandfather—they call him Jamps."

Is there anybody hotter on the planet, right now, than Guy Fieri? I love the testimonial of what it means to have an involved, caring father.
ReplyDeleteI happened upon this issue while waiting to see my son at the Marin County Jail today. I enjoyed your memories of the challenges your father provided, as well as his support. He certainly assisted in developing your character to meet the challenges of your successful career. It also helps that you are both Irish and Italian!! (joking, as I am, also) Keep up the good work with a great attitude and continue to make your family proud!
