This post is more Diners, Drive-ins and Dives related than Guy Fieri related. But I thought that this would be an appropriate 9/11 post, and fans of Triple D might like to know ....
According to the San Jose Murcury News, this October the Navy has invited America's Chefs to bring six chefs to the U.S. military stations. Four of the chefs are straight from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
The purpose of the visits is to provide entertainment, education and boost morale through culinary related shows and demonstrations for the U.S. military and their families.
Representing Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives are chefs Rich Bacchi of Gorilla Barbeque (Smokin' BBQ), Hodad of Hodad's (Seaside Eats), Panini Pete of Panini Pete's (Real Deal Fast Food), and Stretch of Grinders & Grinders West (Off the Hook Specials).
CJ Jacobson of The Yard, Santa Monica and Ryan Scott, private chef, San Francisco from Bravo's Top Chef are included.
In early August 2010, America's Chefs tested the show at Fleet Week, during the annual Seattle Seafair, with rave reviews from the crowd.
